The Last of Us 2 PAX East demo will give players an hour to patrol with Ellie and Dina

Image
The Last of Us 2 PAX East demo will give players an hour to patrol with Ellie and Dina The Last of Us 2  PAX East demo is bringing enough game to justify the struggle for a demo booth slot. Naughty Dog  revealed  today that it will bring an hour-long segment of The Last of Us 2 gameplay to the Boston convention: from February 27 to March 1, attendees will be able to try out a section of the game called "Patrol". This is the part of the game where Ellie and her girlfriend Dina head out of their home town of Jackson to clear out infected in the surrounding area Hour-long public demos for just about any game, let alone one as hotly anticipated as The Last of Us 2, are almost unheard of. It's a cool choice given its deliberate pace and the little bit of story Naughty Dog wants to reveal, though it does mean demo slots will likely be an extremely hot commodity. Your best bet at getting in will be to use the Experience PlayStation mobile app, as Naughty Dog says it ...

Game Director Hideaki Itsuno Discusses Creating Emotional Moments in ‘Devil May Cry 5’

Image
Spoilers for “ Devil May Cry 5 ” are included below. With an ecstatic, Dante-like “let’s rock!’  Capcom  legend Hideaki Itsuno began his dive into how he created the impactful story and gameplay of “ Devil May Cry 5 .” The panel looked at Itsuno’s methodology of game design. “How can you design something around a feeling you’ve experienced at some point in your life?” Itsuno said through translation by producer Matt Walker at  GDC . “We’re talking about creating a feeling that will motivate the player to continue playing.” He called that feeling the ‘objective’, or what you’re trying to evoke in the player, and the way to achieve that the ‘means’. “Don’t mix up means and objectives,” Itsuno said. “There is only one objective, but there are multiple means to achieve it. Create a list of means and prioritize them based on how hard it would be to implement them.” Itsuno talked at length about the importance of having meaningful experiences in life and tha...

BioWare promises to fix ‘Anthem’ after dismal launch

Image
There have been 200 improvements through patches so far and more in the works. Anthem  has had a  rough launch , and no one is more aware of the issues than developer BioWare. In a candid  blog post , company general manager Casey Hudson acknowledged the early run has been "rougher than expected" and said the team is "very disappointed" with the number of issues plaguing the title. Despite the problems, BioWare is offering reassurances to gamers that BioWare will  continue to support and improve the game. According to Hudson, the  Anthem  team have already pushed out more than 200 improvements through patches and updates. He's also promising more changes in the future to address game flow, stability and performance -- much of which is driven by feedback from players. BioWare is also planning on releasing new story content and features, including a major event called  Cataclysm  planned for May. It's tough to ask gamers to play throug...

Cyberpunk 2077 to feature - Lady Gaga?

Image
That’s according to the somewhat dubious authority of anonymous people on the internet, so keep this one filed under MAYBE for now – but this is what’s what. Citing “sources close to the studio”, French website  ActuGaming  claims the singer has recently been in and out of the Cyberpunk 2077 developer’s offices in Warsaw, Poland. The Google translation of the article is super awkward, but explains that “from what we know, the artist would have gone to CD Projekt Red to potentially perform a performance in motion-capture”. This speculation is backed up (kind of?) by this otherwise inscrutable response by the game’s Twitter account to one of Lady Gaga tweets from 2012, implying some sort of collaboration between them.

Fallout 76 - New "Booze Questline" Offers A Fun Reason To Return

Image
Fallout 76 ’s seventh major patch  Wild Appalachia  arrived today and with it comes a host of changes. There are the usual fixes and improvements, but the new update also includes some new content that helps bring some life back into the game’s previously stagnant world. The biggest new addition is a quest called Wasted on Nukashine that encourages you to perfect the art of brewing some Nuka-Cola-infused hooch for a drunken robot named Biv. This robot, by the way, has spent the last few decades stumbling about in the basement of a tattoo parlor that had been converted into a speakeasy by some students at the nearby university who were tired of the cops constantly busting up their keggers. The setup is sort of like  Animal House  meets  Weird Science , minus all of the teenage perviness or other characters. Like previous quests in the game, most of the story is relayed through computer terminals, hand-written notes, and old holo-tapes. It’s entertaining a...

Devil May Cry 5 New Nero Trailer - Devilish

Image
Devil May Cry 5 is on the verge of arriving on consoles, so the game's publisher has dropped a new trailer to promote the title. This one in particular highlights Nero as one of three playable heroes in the game. It's no secret that Devil May Cry 5 's publisher has been delivering some heavy-hitters in the first half of 2019. Hot on the heels of the well-received Resident Evil 2 remake , Capcom is now set to deliver the next major installment of the Devil May Cry franchise. The initial reveal trailer for Devil May Cry 5 was a welcomed sight during E3 2018. In the wake of the reboot DmC: Devil May Cry in 2013, it wasn't clear how the franchise would continue. That game had the fan base split as a result of its reimagining of longstanding series favorite Dante as a punk-inspired demon killer without his trademark white hair. Despite those initial controversies, Capcom looks to have refocused on what longtime fans want their heroes to look like. The latest g...
